Chapter I

The Meeting

In the beginning, there were two people from two different worlds—and, as beginnings often do, theirs arrived disguised as an ordinary church ice-skating event.

Not long after, Devin asked Jess out for coffee, where the sparks caught and never quite went out. He noticed her big smile first, then her even bigger heart, and a laugh that rang with more joy than Christmas morning. She noticed his cute, curly hair, his remarkable mind, the laugh that made her smile before she could help it, his gentle heart and spirit, and his steadfast determination to win her hand.

From coffee shops to long walks in the park, they kept finding reasons for just one more hour together.

Chapter II

The In-between

The middle chapters are the best ones; this is where love grew its roots. From trips to the mountains and ordinary evenings to exploring Birmingham street by street and discovering a hundred small things about the person across the table, they became the best of friends and tasted the particular sweetness of being fully known, fully loved, and still chosen.

The Question

Devin had long since set his mind on marrying Jess. So he made a plan—and carried it, nervous and hopeful, into the woods beside a trickling creek, where he knelt and asked the most important question of his life. She wholeheartedly said yes!

From that day forward, they couldn’t have been more eager to begin planning their future together.

Looking back across every page, they’ve come to see the Lord’s goodness written through it all—the way He drew two very different worlds together—and they couldn’t be more grateful. What they hope to build now is a life that is honorable, loving, sacrificial, and one that gives Jesus all the glory.

Semi formal/cocktail. It's an outdoor garden evening with cozy fall vibes, so wear whatever's comfortable for grass, gravel paths, and a crisp night after sunset.

Getting here, staying near

Getting there

Aldridge Gardens sits just off I-459 and I-65 in Hoover, about 20 minutes south of downtown Birmingham. Parking at the gardens is free.

Flying in

Birmingham–Shuttlesworth International (BHM) is the closest airport, roughly 25 minutes from the venue. Rental cars and rideshares are both easy.

Where to stay

There's no room block — just book whatever suits you. For hotels, the cluster around the Riverchase Galleria (about five minutes away) is the easiest and closest, with plenty of options at every price point; downtown Birmingham and the Hoover/Vestavia Hills area are both comfortable too. Prefer a home? Airbnb and Vrbo have great stays throughout Hoover, Vestavia Hills, and Homewood, all a short drive from the gardens.

Semi formal/cocktail. It's an outdoor garden evening with cozy fall vibes, so wear whatever's comfortable and pick shoes that can handle grass and gravel paths (it gets crisp after sunset, so maybe bring a layer). Totally optional: if you'd like to match our fall palette — olive, burgundy, mauve, cream — we'd love it, but only if you want to.

Outdoors, start to finish: vows at the water’s edge, then dinner and dancing under the pavilion. Alabama in early November is usually lovely — highs around 65°F, cool after sunset — so bring a layer.

Invitations are addressed to everyone included. When you RSVP, your party and any plus-one seats we could offer will appear automatically. We wish we could host everyone’s favorite people, but the pavilion only holds so many.

We love your little ones, but this will be an adults-only evening unless your invitation says otherwise.

Aldridge Gardens has free on-site parking at 3530 Lorna Road. Follow the signs from the entrance; the ceremony is a short walk along the garden path.
